This year I decided I wanted to challenge myself to maximize my clothes. I have so many and yet I would find myself saying, "I don't have anything to wear!" How many of you can relate? Well, fret no more, this blog post is all about styling staple pieces to look like different outfits.
Today, we will be working with a green sweater, black jeggings, and knee-high black leather boots. One thing they all have in common is their basic. It's easier to make multiple outfits from basic pieces because it gives you more room to play with accessories. That isn't to say pieces with more patterns or different colors can't be maximized, but today we're going to focus only on basics.
I like to break down my outfits based on where I am going. So, I styled three outfits to fit into each category. Casual, dressy casual, business casual!
STYLE #1: Casual
Choose neutral colors for your base. The olive green on the sweater can be easily paired with the cream on the jean jacket, blue denim, black leggings + leather boots, and a pop of color from my mustard backpack. To keep it from being boring, but also not over the top I added accessories. Accessories are your BEST friend when it comes to wearing the same thing over and over again. I choose a medium-size plain gold hoop earring from Steve Madden and a gold choker chain necklace from Mia Boutique (a local New Orleans boutique).
STYLE #2: Dressy Casual
Choose accessories that DEMAND attention. For my dressy casual outfit, I always feel like a dress or skirt is the go-to. Since it's still pretty chilly in NOLA pairing a black denim skirt over black jeggings was a perfect choice. Why compromise on warmth and fashion when you can have both! I added a gorgeous pearl hair clip with gold accents to my hair. I already had a cute twist style going so adding that clip was the perfect POP. I also found these pearl drop earrings that also had gold accents and it just felt meant to be. I love subtle colors, so pairing a scarf with colors that easily blend with my outfit took it to the next level. But, what if it gets too warm while out? Well, that's why I grabbed the baby pink purse with a gold lock clip to keep color, but subtly.
STYLE #3: Business Casual
Layer as much as possible. My personal favorite is business casual. Who doesn't want to feel like a boss babe ready for any challenge that comes her way! Jackets, coats, blazers, and sweaters are the perfect way to switch up your outfit. They add another element to your outfit that makes it look totally different than when you last wore it and that much more interesting. Bold lip color and/or a statement piece of jewelry can also dress this outfit up more, without overdoing it. I chose a bold lip and a simple necklace because that's more my style!
Well, babes, that's it for my first blog post on my revamped website! It feels so good to be back to blogging and posting. I can't wait to share more with you. I hope you sign up for my newsletter to stay in the loop.
